How the two materials differ

Both materials are used for life-size dolls, and both can look realistic in photos. The differences show up in handling, cleaning and long-term wear, which is where your customers will notice them.

• Detail: silicone holds fine detail such as skin texture and painted features well. TPE is softer, so very fine detail is less crisp.
• Feel: TPE is softer and more flexible to the touch. Silicone feels firmer, depending on the formulation.
• Cleaning: silicone is non-porous and easy to wash. TPE is slightly porous, so it needs thorough cleaning and complete drying.
• Staining: TPE can pick up color from dark or printed clothing. Silicone resists staining better.
• Heat: silicone resists heat better than TPE, so TPE needs more care near heaters and in hot storage rooms.
• Price: TPE costs less, so it fits entry-level price points. Silicone costs more and suits premium positioning.

What each material means after the sale

The material changes what your customers need to know after they buy. TPE owners need clear cleaning steps, advice to use renewal powder or cornstarch after washing, and a warning about dark clothing. Silicone owners mostly need to know which products to avoid: alcohol, oil-based products and harsh cleaners.

How we make them

Aifei dolls are made by Dongguan Xiegang Aifei Silicone Products Factory, a silicone and TPE doll manufacturer founded in 2016 in Xiegang Town, Dongguan, China, with 11–50 employees and a capacity of over 5,000 units per month.

In-house, we sculpt prototypes, engineer our own molds, inject platinum-cured silicone with our own formulations, hand-paint the details and implant hair. Our two material options are premium platinum-cured silicone and high-grade, soft-touch TPE.
